Viral sensation! RUSS ‘GUN LEAN’ @russ2splashy

Growing up in Lewisham, emerging rapper Russ drops one of the most anticipated videos of the winter with the official visuals for ‘Gun Lean’,

Born in England and of Jamaican descent, the rapper only just started his career in 2017, but the reaction to his 2 recent drops – his ‘Lightwork Freestyle’ on Press Play (over 1.6M views) and ‘Gun Lean’ – taking the UK underground by storm marks Russ out as truly one of the breakout names of the year.

Speaking about his own path so far, the rapper states: “I started just on hood riddims, you know, not taking it seriously. Then after my sister died, I decided to do it properly out of respect to her.”

Having established himself as one of the UK Drill scene’s most characterful artists coming through the scene, Russ has already created a bonafide national dance move from this track. Russ’s ‘One of a Kind’ moniker is revealing itself to be true and with the official video dropped, “Gun Lean”’s trademark icy instrumental balances with Russ’s infectious wordplay to make this one truly pop.

England and Manchester United forward Jessie Lingard did the ‘Gun lean’ dance to celebrate his goal in the Premier League.

With this kind of pure viral connection, Russ joins the likes of Unknown T and Digdat as a serious one to watch in 2019.
