The Shameless Stunts That Sold Millions of Concert Tickets on Viagogo

If you ever needed proof that chaos is king, here it is.

According to new Viagogo data, the biggest drivers of live music demand this year weren’t albums, artistry or even good behaviour. They were viral stunts, online feuds and moments so irritating you couldn’t escape them even if you tried.

Katy Perry Goes to Space (Because Why Not?)

Just when you thought celebrity excess couldn’t get more ridiculous, Katy Perry decided the charts weren’t enough and launched herself into actual space.

Yes, really.

The pop star’s zero-gravity joyride was blasted across social media, prompting plenty of eye-rolling from critics who wondered whether billionaires and pop stars should really be playing astronauts.

But here’s the infuriating part: it worked.

Viagogo data shows Katy Perry enjoyed a 59% jump in average daily ticket sales immediately after her trip. Turns out fans love a spectacle, even if it’s completely unnecessary.

That Jet2 TikTok Sound You Couldn’t Escape

You know the one.
You still hear it in your sleep.

The Jet2 holiday meme hijacked Britain’s TikTok feeds for weeks, soundtracking everything from delayed flights to burnt barbecues. And no matter how many times you hit “not interested”, it kept coming back.

Front and centre? Jess Glynne.

While half the country begged for silence, ticket demand for the Hold My Hand singer quietly spiked across June and July, right in the middle of peak holiday season. Love it or loathe it, being annoying apparently pays very well.

Lily Allen Proves Spite Is a Business Model

If you were hoping maturity would arrive with age, Lily Allen had other plans.

Her internet-breaking album West End Girl turned bitterness into content, fuelling online arguments, think pieces and endless discourse. Critics clutched their pearls. Fans ate it up.

When she announced her first UK tour in seven years, ticket sales obliterated pre-sale expectations.

Drake Gets Publicly Dragged… And Still Wins

Most artists would crumble after being roasted on a diss track that wins five Grammys and tops charts worldwide.

Drake simply shrugged.

Despite Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ becoming a global humiliation soundtrack, British fans remained loyal. When Drake confirmed his return to Wireless Festival, demand for his 2025 appearance shot up dramatically compared to last year.

Viral clips from his set, complete with surprise guests like Lauryn Hill, Vanessa Carlton, Central Cee, Dave and Vybz Kartel, only added fuel to the fire. Turns out cancellation is optional if the hits keep coming.

The Gallagher Brothers Discover Forgiveness (And Cash In)

After years of insults, lawsuits and telling fans it would never happen, Noel and Liam Gallagher finally did the unthinkable: they made up.

Viagogo revealed the band was the second most in-demand act of the year, beaten only by Coldplay. Demand was strongest in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, but fans weren’t stopping there.

Some were so desperate they booked flights to Buenos Aires, East Rutherford, Pasadena and Sydney just to see the brothers stand on the same stage without throwing punches.

Reconciliation never looked so profitable.

The Bitter Truth? Annoying Works

You don’t need subtlety, you don’t need restraint, and you definitely don’t need dignity.

Whether it’s space tourism, TikTok torture, public feuds or long-overdue sibling truces, the lesson from Viagogo’s data is brutally clear: the louder, messier and more irritating the moment, the more tickets get sold.

And if that makes you angry?

Congratulations – you’re exactly the audience keeping the industry alive.
