“I started making music as at a very young age… subconsciously I followed my dad who was a musician. I started hustling from then.
I had my first break my second year of music and got plaudits from Olamide and J hus and that’s when it hit”.
Mixtape Madness, one of the largest platforms for showcasing UK talent has gone global with the new collaboration with Bad Boy Timz, the Nigerian afrobeat artist who is expanding after his debut album ‘No Bad Boy, No Party’. The “Rookie of the year” at the 2021 Headies is looking for growth alongside Mixtape Madness, and spoke about new music and taking on the UK scene.
What are your thoughts on African music?
“African music has always been around and been praised. Us Nigerians are hard workers, we always have had 200 songs to pick from and our quality control is there”.
After a couple of years out of the music scene how is it releasing a project after two years?
Bro I won’t lie, I had to pause releasing music for over a year and it takes the grace of God to get this out.
Going on a hiatus can only happen by the grace of God.
I’m one of the happiest people in the world getting to do what I love to do!
How do you feel working with Mixtape Madness one of the UK’s biggest tastemakers?
I literally just turned 24 and I can’t lie it hasn’t been overwhelming because I want so much. I was at the peak of my career and had to immediately take a break.
People want to feel a part of my story and I love it. That keeps me humble, and you never know who’s going to bring you your biggest opportunity, so I try to keep that energy.
What’s next for you?
After this track I want to connect with people all over where they don’t even know about Afrobeats.
I am dropping a deluxe version soon too and my songs are ready!
