A Collaboration Rooted in Culture

When music meets timeless design, history is made. G-SHOCK has teamed up with Channel One Sound System for a special release that’s about both culture and craft. At Notting Hill Carnival 2025, the two icons of resilience and creativity have dropped a limited-edition watch, designed to honour the beating heart of reggae, dub, and community spirit.

Channel One’s Legacy at Carnival

Channel One Sound System has been a staple of London’s cultural fabric since 1979. Led by Mikey Dread and his crew, the collective has carried the torch for reggae and dub music with conscious lyrics, heavy basslines, and a mission to “break down barriers via reggae music.” Their presence at Notting Hill Carnival is legendary, pulling crowds year after year with deep-rooted vibrations and an atmosphere of unity.

G-SHOCK: A Symbol of Resilience

G-SHOCK has long been known for its toughness and innovation. Since Kikuo Ibe’s dream of creating “a watch that never breaks” became reality in 1983, the brand has grown into a global symbol of resilience, worn across sport, fashion, and street culture. It’s this very resilience that makes the collaboration with Channel One so natural—both represent endurance, creativity, and the power to bring people together.

The Design: More Than a Watch

The G-SHOCK x Channel One watch embodies this shared ethos. Featuring a custom-print strap inspired by sound system culture, bespoke packaging, and even a limited-edition sweatband gift, the design balances durability with cultural pride. It’s a tribute to the pioneers and sounds that continue to inspire generations, from Mikey Dread to Sister Nancy.

“Channel One has been breaking down barriers since 1979, uniting people through music and culture. This G-SHOCK link-up stands for the same values—strength, quality and resilience—carrying the spirit of Notting Hill Carnival in the future,” – Mikey Dread

Carnival Celebrations and Beyond

The release has been marked with a recorded Radio Takeover at the G-SHOCK London store, setting the tone for Carnival. Fans can also catch the Pre-Carnival All Nighter on 22nd August at Village Underground, where special guest Sister Nancy will perform live.

Priced at £119, the limited-edition timepiece is available at the G-SHOCK e-commerce site, Carnaby Street, and Dover Street Market stores. For collectors, fans of sound system culture, or anyone who loves a strong streetwear moment, this watch is more than a style statement—it’s a piece of living history.
