Bio: Meet @HappiMusic The Gentle Giant Tackling Depression by Making Others Happy

Meet Mark Babatunde. He says ‘Happi’ is the name of the artist, the creative, the inner child that creates all of his music and material.

“My mum and dad didn’t make me happy, they named me something a bit more plain, but the name Happi came from growing up with a lots of energy, joy and faith. I always tried to be the light in the room, the life of the party wherever I went. It started mainly out of my own insecurities, overcompensating so people wouldn’t notice that I was actually dealing with depression from a young age but once I found my faith, it made me content and made me want to genuinely make others feel the same, whether through songs, words or just being a decent human being, so that’s how it all began!”

Happi first started writing music and making songs as a kid.

That was the beginning for me, I was writing songs from the age of 6. Once I got to my teens I had already started performing in places but spread the art in different directions. I would do a lot of church gigs, performing poems, raps and songs. Church really developed the gift of music in me and it was actually what gave me the confidence to pursue music. I started taking it seriously in 2010. I would record songs with my brother in his little bedroom studio and release home made vids on my YouTube page. I started to see people liked the stuff and it gave me the confidence to push on. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to travel, performing in countries like Australia, New Zealand and Slovakia, spent time with the greatest artists the UK has to offer like Wretch 32 and seen my self gain a following organically.

Happi’s latest project is a 4 track EP called ‘3:15’ and it’s out now. Join Mark on his journey tackling depression, sharing positive vibes and making enjoyable music. His social media handles are below.
